Glass & Glazing Supplies

Glass

We stock an extensive range of glass, which can be cut to size while you wait, or are able to supply specialised glass types for later delivery or collection.  All safety and fire rated glass conforms to the current British Standards for the glass type.  Glass is supplied to both the domestic and commercial market.

Clear glass

Available in 2 mm, 3 mm, 4 mm, 6 mm and 10 mm thicknesses and cut to size.  Other thicknesses are available on request.

Pattern glass

We stock a range of Pilkington's most popular patterns, including Arctic, Chantilly, Mayflower, Florielle, Charcoal Sticks, Autumn Leaf, Sycamore, Minster, Stippolyte, Flemish and Cotswold, in both 4 mm and 6 mm, which we can cut to size for you.

Coloured glass

Sprayed splash backs are available to order in any colour all with ground and polished edges, toughened if required, eg for behind the cooker hob.

Greenhouse glass

We stock standard panes of greenhouse /horticultural glass, and cut other sizes when required.

Mirrored glass

Available in 4 mm and 6 mm silvered, 4 mm and 6 mm bronze silvered and antique silvered, cut to size.

Laminated safety glass

Laminated safety glass holds together when broken and there are no large sharp pieces created. It is normally used when there is a possibility of human impact, eg in doors, or when glass could shatter if it fell, eg in roof windows. Laminated safety glass gives better sound insulation than normal glass. We stock 6.4 mm, 8.8 mm and 10.8 mm clear laminated. 6.4 mm acid laminate (opaque) is also available.

Fire rated glass

Fire rated glass is measured in defined time periods of 30, 60, 90, 120 and 180 minutes and must conform to the current European standards. Installation of fire-rated glass should always be carried out by specialists to ensure that the expected fire rated performance is achieved.

Double glazed units

Double glazed units are available in clear or patterned glass, toughened, laminated, grey and bronze antisun, and satin / sandblasted.

Anti-vandal Polycarbonate

Where vandalism is a particular problem, or if an unbreakable glass is required, we stock 4 mm Lexan and 6 mm Lexan antivandal polycarbonate.

Toughened Glass

Toughened Glass is glass that has undergone a specialist process to increase its strength when compared to normal glass. The result is a glass which has balanced internal stresses which increase its strength and it usually will shatter into small pieces rather than sharp shards. This makes it less likely to cause severe injury and deep cuts. It is therefore recommended for use in doors, for glass table tops, refrigerator shelves and many other uses. Any cutting or grinding of the glass must be done prior to it undergoing the toughening process. Any attempt to cut or grind the glass after it has undergone processing will cause it to fracture.

We can supply most toughened glass requirements, including double glazed units, within 3-5 working days.
